How to Keep Your Makeup On All Day Long…Even in the Summer

No matter if it’s warm or not, you sometimes get those days where your makeup just don’t want to last all day. This can be a big frustration, especially if you are in a corporate job where it’s necessary to look your best in front of your clients.

So what will be the solution? Take a look at the following tips!

Complexion Primer1. The Ultimate Makeup “Wonder” Product

Makeup primer is an absolute must have in your makeup bag. This product can be used no matter if it’s warm or not. This is a really hard-working multi-tasker for your skin, because it minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and it also keeps your make-up in place- exactly like you first applied it in the morning.

How to Apply It and When?

After you have washed, moisturised and applied sunscreen to your face, you’ll take your makeup primer and squeeze a small pea-sized amount into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, making sure that the primer is spread all over your hands and then apply it to your face. Do not spread it over your face as you would your moisturiser, but apply it in soft “press-on” movements. Make sure that you also apply it onto your eye area so that your eye shadow won’t cause creases or melt away.

Mineral Liquid Foundation2. Mineral makeup

After you have applied your makeup primer, it is important to choose a foundation that will last all day in all kinds of weather conditions. In summer, you don’t always feel like wearing a lot of foundation, therefore you may want to go for a more natural kind of look. That is where mineral makeup (or mineral based makeup) comes to the picture. Mineral makeup usually comes in a loose powder form, contains only 4 or 5 ingredients of which 2 are normally sunscreen. You also apply the mineral makeup by buffing it onto your skin and if you use the correct colour, this will do wonders to your skin.

Mineral based foundation contains more ingredients and can be found in a pressed or liquid form. Both are very easy to apply and it will not fade off your skin. This, together with a very good primer will ensure that you look your absolute best all day. We have included mineral liquid foundation in our Pro Makeup Kit and Master Makeup Kit.

3. Lip colour that stays on all day.

For some women it is very frustrating to constantly touch-up their lipstick. So to make this easier for you, you need to have the following items at home or in your handbag.

Jello– Lip Stain

You can make your own lip stain at home using:

1. Jell-O (this can be found in your local supermarket in the dessert isle. It is a jelly-based sorbet.)
2. Lipstick brush
3. Little bit of water

Choose a suitable colour like strawberry, empty the Jell-O into a container and add water to another container. Take your lipstick brush, dip it into the container that has water in it, then dip it into the container with the Jell-O and apply it to your lips. Make sure that you do this in front of a mirror so that you do not stain any areas around your lips.

After you’ve applied it to your lips, there will still be some crystals left. This you can remove with a cotton bud. Apply some lip balm or lip gloss over the lip stain. You can decide if you only want to wear the lip stain with lip gloss or if you want to apply the lip stain first, followed by a long-wear lipstick.

Lip Gloss– Long-Lasting Lipstick or Lip Gloss

The benefit of having a long-lasting lipstick or lip gloss in your handbag is that it lasts up to 6 hours and most of these lipsticks have moisturizing benefits, so you won’t do your lips any harm in wearing it. If you find that this specific item is too expensive, then you could still wear your normal everyday lipstick, but apply it over a lip stain. Should your lipstick fade, then you will still have that all natural luscious looking lips. Just imagine how convenient it would be if you only have to apply your lipstick or lip gloss once or twice a day!

Blotting Paper4. Last but not least- Blotting Papers

For those extremely hot summer days, make sure that you carry along some blotting papers in your handbag if you tend to be a little bit oilier. This you will use to dot all over your face to absorb any excess oil and to remove unnecessary shine from it. Other alternatives that also work well are tissue or toilet paper.

You see, it doesn’t mean that you have to spend a small fortune on all kinds of makeup, but if you invest in these few things, then a little will take you a long way.
