Makeup.School Review: Bobbie Harvey UK
What made you choose Makeup.School over other online makeup artistry programs?
I find most online courses way over priced and very difficult to progress through due to lack of information and over complicated procedures! Makeup.School popped up online somewhere and I took a nosey and immediately text my mum with a screen shot of the site captioning it ‘Early Birthday present? ;-)’.
Makeup.School seemed eye opening! It looked like a straight forward course that didn’t rob you out of pocket either! And sure enough I spent most of my summer practicing on my housemates who where more than happy to be guinea pigs for me! Haha
What do you think of the makeup artist training program so far?
I am very interest in this programme! Although I am aware now that it does take time to complete, I am learning a lot of things in the process. Most of it I already am aware of to a degree, but one thing I love about it is that it explains so well ‘WHY’ you are doing these procedures or ‘WHY’ you need this colouring for this skin type, etc, not just ‘use this’ and ‘use that’ because it looks good! It explains the reason for it, which is what I was so happy with!
What is your favorite aspect of the makeup artist courses?
How it covers EVERYTHING in the ‘beauty’ department. Even though it is a make up course, I learned how to do facials on the first slide show. It broadens your skills and qualifications that you are able to do, so you are not just confined to be able to ‘apply make up’.
How prepared do you feel you will be to begin your career as a professional makeup artist once you complete the Makeup.School artistry program?
I feel a lot more confident! Especially on different skin types and different age groups. You can never succeed at something if you aren’t confident in doing it, which is what I am.
What are your future plans? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
I tend not to think too far ahead in the future as it gets a wee bit scary considering next year is my final year at University! But, in saying that I want to be known for what I do. Whether it’s in make up or something else, I want to make a name for myself in the public eye, in being a success in what I do in the near future.
Besides makeup, I noticed you’re also a singer! Tell us about that!
Indeed I am and I LOVE IT! Being a professional recording artist is my main goal in life.
A difficult industry to get into but It’s a great passion of mine. I have been singing since I was 9 years old and throughout education I continued to pursue this dream, developing new skills and expanding my creativity throughout my college years at North West Regional College in my hometown back in Northern Ireland. And of course I am currently developing this further being in my 2nd year at BIMM London Music University.
How do you juggle both makeup artistry and singing?
The two of them come as a pair almost. You have to have an image being an artist and make up fits right into that. As well as practicing on myself for live shows etc…I am also doing make up for photoshoots and music videos for my colleagues at UNI which is fantastic! Especially as every artist is so unique and they all want a different look and style which makes me have to dig deep into creativity to fulfill their vision for the shoot!
What makeup product is your absolute MUST HAVE?
HMMMMmmm that’s a toughy! Estee Lauder is one of my favourite brands as it gives me such good coverage and the mascara is AMAZING! But I’ve recently purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator highlighter ‘SO HOLLYWOOD’ and I am OBSESSED! You could see me in the dark I use it that much! Haha
