Eyebrow filling gives overall facial makeup a completed look. Mismatched brows or overly sparse brows pull the attention away from the best features and can impair the overall appearance quite significantly. Eyebrow filling is also important because it helps to showcase your eye makeup.
Whether using pencils or powders, keep in mind that these adhere to skin far more than to hair. To make sparse eyebrows look fuller, fill in sparse areas where hair should grow for a perfect eyebrow. Before putting pencil or powder to the brow, comb it out well and examine exactly where it needs work. Always apply strokes in the direction of hair growth for a natural look.
Use brow powder to fill in plucked eyebrows for a natural look. Use a stiff brush for the powder, to get the greatest control over color placement. For thin or over plucked eyebrows, use a brow pencil for filling in. Finish the filling in properly to avoid the penciled look. Never ‘draw’ the entire brow. This makes eyebrows the most obvious features of the face but gives them an extremely artificial appearance.
To keep eyebrows in place, use a gel if necessary. Tinted gels are ideal to add color to the eyebrow. Blondes should go one or two shades darker than their hair color while brunettes can opt for the same color or a couple of shades lighter.
Before the perfect fill-in, brush the brow down and then draw a line along the upper edge to mark where the arch should peak. Now comb up and out. Add volume to the sparse areas with a sharp brow pencil. Feathering strokes with the pencil provide the best effect. Finish with brow powder to achieve the final natural look. For brows colored too dark, lighten the shade with a toothbrush dipped in shadow or neutral powder.
First, a demonstration on how to fill in eyebrows with our Trio Brow Palette:
Step 1: Take your eyebrow comb and comb the eyebrows neatly.
Step 2: Choose a brow powder appropriate to the hair color. Take the 207 Angle Eyeliner Brush and dip it softly into the brow powder/eye shadow. Apply the brow powder/eye shadow in the direction of hair growth to ensure a natural look.
Never “draw” the color onto the eyebrows, as this creates an artificial appearance. When using a pencil, ensure that you use feathering strokes to fill in sparse areas and go gently on fuller areas.
